We've extended our partnership with the Fisherman's Friends
O ur longstanding partnership with the Fisherman's Friends has been extended for another year. We have been working together for more than 10 years; a period that’s seen the eight-piece singing group skyrocket to Cornwall’s number one ‘buoy band’.
The renewal comes as the band’s story is set for a much-anticipated return to the big screen. Following the success of the 2019 hit debut movie, the sequel will be released later this year. In the meantime, fans are being told to keep their eyes out for the official trailer which will be released very soon.
The partnership will also see the band perform a series of exclusive gigs at our pubs, and at the Royal Cornwall Show on Saturday June 11th, 2022. Tribute will continue as the official beer of the band.
St Austell Brewery has supported the Fisherman’s Friends since their humble beginnings as a much-loved local outfit in the small seaside village of Port Isaac, North Cornwall. We helped finance some of the band’s early albums and ensured the members were kept in regular supply of Tribute. The group signed a record deal with Universal Music in 2010 and delivered their first top 10 album in the UK that same year.
Laura McKay, Head of Marketing for our Beers & Brands, said:
“We’re incredibly proud and excited to renew this partnership. The shanty singing of the Fisherman’s Friends truly celebrates the special spirit of Cornwall and our community, since day one the partnership has felt like a natural fit.”
W e’re really looking forward to continuing this journey with them, supporting their upcoming live events and the release of their film sequel – Fisherman’s Friends: One and All.
Fisherman’s Friends singer Jon Cleave said:
"The Fisherman's Friends are proud to continue sailing to success on a sea of Tribute.”
